Commentary:

This Vachanamrut discusses the Tap of Narnarayan Rishi. Paramanand Swami asked the question, “Shree Narnarayan Rishi is performing Tap at Badrikashram for the ultimate good and happiness of all human beings in Bharat Khand (Indian subcontinent). Yet, why is it that not all humans follow the path of ultimate good?” Maharaj answered that Bhagwan performs Tap only for the sake of His devotees and not for those who are not His devotees. Here, we might wonder why not all devotees seem to benefit equally from Bhagwan’s Tap. The answer to this is that Bhagwan does perform Tap for His devotees, but it is not distributed based on mere appearances. Visible signs such as a Tilak Chandlo (religious mark on the forehead) or a clean-shaven head and clean clothes are not the standards by which the benefits of Tap are measured. Therefore, one cannot conclude the benefits just by appearance.

Now, the question is, what is the criterion for a devotee to inherit the benefits of Bhagwan’s Tap? Maharaj explains that those who realize the great spiritual value of the rare human birth in Bharat Khand and earnestly worship Paramatma, it is for their grace that Bhagwan performs Tap. He does not perform Tap just in the name of devotees. Just as a radio or TV station transmits news or images, but they can only be received if the receiver is tuned to the right frequency, similarly, a devotee must align his purpose with the purpose for which Bhagwan performs Tap. Only then can the devotee receive the benefits of Bhagwan’s Tap. If not, even though Bhagwan broadcasts the power of Tap, it cannot be received by the devotee, even if it is right next to him, just like a signal that is close but not captured by the receiver.

Maharaj further explains that understanding the extremely rare value of the human body, Narnarayan Bhagwan has compassionately performed Tap to enhance our welfare. Bhagwan’s Tap is filled with auspicious qualities like Dharma (moral integrity), Gnan (knowledge), Vairagya (non-attachment), Upasham (tranquility), and Aishwarya (splendor). As a result, devotees who are sincere but have limited strength, grow stronger and become more capable of walking the path of Bhagwan. Such devotees receive the support of Narnarayan Bhagwan’s Tap. Maharaj says that due to Bhagwan’s will, the Aksharbrahma-like radiance within the hearts of these devotees reveals the direct Darshan (divine vision) of Shree Krishna Bhagwan. These devotees attain salvation (Moksha) without any obstacles. However, those who are not true devotees of Bhagwan do not benefit from Bhagwan’s Tap and do not achieve their ultimate good.
