The miraculous meditation.
Key Points:
Meditation is achieved by Ekantik Bhakt (a single-minded devotee of God).
Explanation:
In this Vachanamrut, Shreeji Maharaj has discussed the concept of miraculous meditation. According to Yogashastra (scriptures of Yoga), most miracles occur due to the power of meditation. Among them, this meditation is extraordinary and akin to a miraculous mantra. It immediately leads one to the state of a Siddha (one with supernatural attainments). Maharaj then described the method of performing this meditation, which aligns with the path of Yoga. However, this requires the guidance of an experienced Guru. Attempting to practice it solely based on scriptural readings can often lead to difficulties.
In the Swaminarayan Sampradaya, after Maharaj, the Yogic path continued through Yogiraj Sadguru Gopalanand Swami and, in the following generation, Sadguru Mahapurushdas Swami and other such Yogis. Over time, much of this path has faded away. While individual practices may still exist, the broader knowledge has become obscured. Today, within and outside the Sampradaya, what is practiced under the name of “Yoga” seldom goes beyond asanas (postures). The foundational Yama (restraints) and Niyama (observances) are almost absent. Without this base, how can one aspire for deeper truths? At most, some superficial practice of Pranayam (breath control) is observed, but even this does not align with the true depth of Yoga, which could accomplish much if practiced correctly. Thus, Pranayam has become a mere formality.
In the current scenario, with people struggling due to mental pressure, illnesses, and other challenges, even this limited “Yoga” appears sufficient and satisfying. Yet, it remains far removed from its true essence.
For us, bringing the method outlined in this Vachanamrut into practice is highly challenging. Pursuing it would require sacrificing additional time. Instead, it is wiser to focus on other methods described in the Vachanamrut that can yield the same results with more achievable effort. Wisdom lies in selecting a path that is appropriate and fruitful for us, ensuring it is safe and practical.
Maharaj has extolled the greatness of this path, which may naturally appeal to the mind. Even if someone presents a “duplicate” version of it, one might still feel it is worth exploring. Therefore, it is prudent to remain alert and select an alternative path that suits us.
This Vachanamrut offers much guidance. What has been written here is not an exhaustive analysis but rather an indication of how this Vachanamrut can be utilized in today’s context for spiritual progress.
Finally, a prayer at Maharaj’s feet: O Maharaj! May Your words continue to inspire and guide all beings.
