23. Always See Divinity In God’s Human Pastimes

A devotee of God should always see divinity in human pastimes of God. In divine pastimes, anyhow we see divinity.

When Garudji was called to free Lord Ram from Nagastra (weapon-of-snakes), Garudji came from Vaikunth and freed Lord Ram and Lakshman. After the incident, Garudji doubted on Lord Ram by thinking that He was imprisoned just like how a human could be imprisoned.

In another incident, a demon named Ahiravan (brother of Ravan) pushed Lord Ram and Lakshman into pathal (lower worlds). In pathal, Lord Ram sat to meditate and prayed God to save Him and His brother. Hanuman changed himself into a subtle form and reached pathal. He killed the demon and his army and thus rescued Lord Ram and Lakshman. But Hanumanji never doubted Lord Ram though He prayed to God just like how humans do.

Hanumanji was new devotee in the avatar of Lord Ram. Garudji was older devotee of God from Vaikunth. What is the reason that Garudji doubted the human behavior of God whereas Hanumanji did not doubt Lord Ram though he was a new devotee?

It is because Hanumanji resolved to always see divinity in human behavior of Lord Ram where as Garudji hadn’t resolved to see divinity in human behavior of Lord Ram.

We should consider human acts of God as the human-drama of God. When a person is playing the role of Harishchandraji in a drama, would you really consider him truthful? On stage you don’t call his real name but call him Harishchandraji. Similarly, we should believe that God is performing Human-drama and is not real.

When Lord Krishna ran away from Mathura to provoke Kalayavan and bring him to a cave, someone might say, ‘Look at Him, He is running for life. How could He be called God and how can He do good to others?’ That is called observing the human nature in God.

To see divinity in God’s human pastimes, first we must decide that we should always see divinity in all the human pastimes of God. The devotee who sees divinity in human activities of God attains perfection that is better than the perfection attained through the practice of eight-fold Yoga process.

Gunatitanand Swami said that the ability to always stay with one constant divine feeling towards God or a Saint is better than Nirvikalpa Samadhi (trance without self-consciousness). Meaning, the divine feeling you felt when you first saw Maharaj, the divine feeling you had in your Saint when you met for the first time should be maintained, and continued even after you leave your body.

Who is not letting us maintain such a constant feeling towards God and Saint? Our perception of human nature in God and Saint.

We only see the human nature of God in human pastimes which disturbs our ultimate good. We see human faults in Saints which also affects our ultimate good.

Parikshit Maharaj doubted Lord Krishna just by listening about Rasleela from Shukdevji. Whereas Gopis and Uddhavji never doubted Krishna even when they stayed with Krishna. That is because they decided that ‘No matter what Krishna does, He is always right.’

If you decide not to see human nature in God, you would not be troubled even if you are staying around God when He performs human-activities.

Even if you are devotee residing near God in Akshardham you should first decide that you should always see divinity in all behaviors of God.
